 My work begins with

shapes derived from nature:  bones, bugs, birds, tuberous  roots, crustations. Through  intensive drawing from  nature I cultivate and  rearrange these organic  shapes, to create new  structures. These invented  building blocks, derived  from the organic world,  are combined in my  sculpture to create a  personal language of form.

This vocabulary runs  throughout my entire body  of work, despite the  diversity of some of my  images. From larger figures  that exhibit elaborate and  abstracted drapery, to my  fossil fragments, this  lexicon of invented  biomorphic forms remains  fundamental.
